I think he must have learned that, although intense and graphic scenes can help demonstrate your point, when used too much, it can turn off readers. None of the following books contain the same amount of questionable scenes. This is one of Goodkind's more graphic books and as such, it was harder to enjoy. However, the events that unfold to set up the need for forgiveness are intensely illustrated. It holds your attention riveted the whole time.
